2nd Middle East and North Africa Regional Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction, 19-21 May 2008, Sana’a, Republic of Yemen
The Conference in Sana’a will be the 2nd regional initiative on disaster risk reduction to be held as a regional follow-up after the World Conference on Disaster Reduction held in Kobe, Japan, 18-22 January 2005, and subsequent adoption of Hyogo Framework for Action. The first Middle East and North Africa Regional Conference on “Building Partnerships for Disaster Risk Reduction and Hazard Risk Management” was successfully held in Cairo, 18-21 April 2007. UN/ISDR arranged in cooperation with the World Bank and the Arab Academy the Regional Workshop on Disaster Risk Assessment to generate technical input to the Second Regional Conference for Disaster Risk Reduction to be held in Yemen, 19-21 of May. See more information

Middle East and North Africa Regional Workshop on Disaster Risk Reduction, Cairo, 18-21 April 2007.
The Cairo Regional Workshop, jointly organized by the UN/ISDR and the World Bank, and with the kind support of the Government of Arab Republic of Egypt, has been the first event in a series, aimed at launching a longer-term regional partnership to promote an integrated approach to Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) including Hazard Risk Management (HRM), prevention, and recovery.
